Reading email

You can access your email account at Fab4.be using a traditional IMAP or POP3 client or using webmail.

Webmail

Point your browser to https://webmail.fab4.be/ and log in.

MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc…

POP3
Using POP3, you can fetch your email from your account to your local computer. By default, POP3 removes emails from the server after fetching. You’ll want to do this if you don’t want to risk having your diskspace eaten up by a high-traffic mailbox. You won’t be able to read your emails using webmail after fetching anymore, though.

To use POP3, use the following information:
Mailserver: mailhost.fab4.be
Protocol: POP3, SSL enabled, port 995
Username and password are the same as your SSH login.

IMAP
If you’re using several computers to access your mailbox, including webmail access, choose IMAP4.
This way, every mail remains on the server, read statuses are updated and access is ensured from every client. Remember to clean up your mailbox once in a while!

To use IMAP, use the following settings:
Mailserver: mailhost.fab4.be
Protocol: IMAP4, SSL enabled, port 993
Username and password are the same as your SSH login.

Sending email:
You can even use Fab4.be as your outgoing mailserver. This is useful if you’re on the road a lot, as our mailserver accepts mail over SSL ports, usually not blocked by ISP’s.
On a related note, our outgoing mailserver requires authentication, which ensures your recipients that you did send the email you just sent.

To use our outgoing mailserver, use the following settings:
Mailserver: mailhost.fab4.be
Protocol: SMTP, SSL enabled, port 465 or 587, depending on your mailclient.
Username and password are the same as your SSH login.
